Breaking News: Harvard University announces free tuition for students from families making $200K annually

A private Ivy League research university in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States, Harvard University is now giving free tuition for all students coming from families making $200,000 or less per year, the Ivy League school announced Monday, March 17.

That means about 86% of American families will qualify for the free ride to one of the world’s most elite universities, according to ABC News.

"Putting Harvard within financial reach for more individuals widens the array of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives that all of our students encounter, fostering their intellectual and personal growth," Harvard University President Alan M. Garber said in a statement. "By bringing people of outstanding promise together to learn with and from one another, we truly realize the tremendous potential of the University."

The new plan will enable about 86% of U.S. families to qualify for Harvard financial aid and expand the Ivy League college's commitment to providing all undergrads the resources they need to enroll and graduate, according to Garber.

Undergraduate students from families with annual incomes of $100,000 or less will not only have tuition covered but also housing, food, health services, and other student services, the university said.

Students from a family making an annual income of $200,000 or less will be able to attend Harvard tuition-free, according to the school.

According to Harvard's website, the average annual tuition for an undergraduate student is $56,550. But with the addition of housing, food, health services and other student services, the annual cost of attending Harvard is $82,866, according to the university.

Harvard enrolls about about 24,600 undergraduate students a year. In 2024, the Cambridge, Massachusetts, school accepted 3.59% of the 54,000 applicants for the Class of 2028.

About 55% of Harvard undergraduates receive some type of financial aid, according to the university. In the 2023-2024 school year, families of students receiving financial aid paid an average of $15,700 toward education costs, school officials said.

"We know the most talented students come from different socioeconomic backgrounds and experiences, from every state and around the globe," William R. Fitzsimmons, Harvard College’s dean of admissions and financial aid, said in a statement. "Our financial aid is critical to ensuring that these students know Harvard College is a place where they can be part of a vibrant learning community strengthened by their presence and participation."

Under the previous financial aid plan, undergraduate students from families with incomes of $85,000 or less qualified for free tuition, housing, health services, and other student services, according to the university.

The annual income threshold to qualify for free schooling at Harvard has increased from $40,000 in 2004 to $60,000 in 2006, to $85,000 since 2023, according to the university.

Over the years, Harvard has worked to lower the annual cost of tuition for undergrad students. In 2007, the school eliminated loans and provided assistance in the form of grants. It also eliminated home equity in determining a family’s ability to pay for college.

Harvard has awarded more than $3.6 billion in undergraduate financial aid since launching the Harvard Financial Aid Initiative in 2004, according to the university.

"Our team works closely with each student to ensure full inclusion in the Harvard experience," said Jake Kaufman, Harvard's director of financial aid.

"The financial aid program is designed so that Harvard students can study, train, research, create, and fully engage in the Harvard experience with minimal constraints."

Fisherman reveals how he survived at the sea for 95 days

Máximo Napa Castro, 61, is a Peruvian fisherman who got lost for 95 days at the sea in the Pacific Ocean has revealed how he survived

Máximo Napa Castro, 61, had set off for a fishing trip from Marcona, a town on the southern Peruvian coast, on December 7. He packed enough food for a two-week trip but ten days in, stormy weather threw his boat off course and he ended up adrift in the Pacific.

Mail Online reported that his family launched a search but Peru's maritime patrols were unable to locate him until last Wednesday when an Ecuadorian fishing patrol discovered him some 680 miles off the coast, heavily dehydrated and in critical condition.

'I did not want to die,' Napa said in a tearful interview after reuniting with his brother, in Paita, near the Ecuadorian border.

'I ate roaches, and birds, the last thing I ate was turtles.'

He said he stayed strong by thinking about his family, including his two-month-old granddaughter.

Napa says he managed to survive on rainwater he collected on the boat but soon ran out of food, ultimately spending the last 15 days without eating.

'I had a granddaughter who is a few months old, I held on to her. Every day I thought of my mother,' he said. 'I'm thankful to God for giving me a second chance.

His mother, Elena Castro, told local media that while her relatives had stayed optimistic she had begun to lose hope.

'I told the Lord, whether he's alive or dead, just bring him back to me, even if it's just to see him,' she told TV Peru. 'But my daughters never lost faith. They kept telling me: Mom, he'll come back, he'll come back.'

'It is a miracle that my father has been found,' she told RPP Radio. 'We, as a family, never gave up hope of finding him.'

'Thank you, Ecuadorian brothers, for rescuing my dad Gatón, God bless you,' she wrote in a post to Facebook.

'Every day is anguish for the whole family and I understand my grandmother's pain because as a mother I understand her. We never thought we would go through this situation, I wouldn't wish it on anyone, we will not lose hope, Dad, of finding you,' she had written on Facebook one week earlier on March 3.

Napa underwent further medical checks at Hospital Nuestra Señora in Paita before being discharged on Saturday and heading south to the capital, Lima.

'Mr Napa arrived in good physical condition. He could walk, and wash himself. Shocked, but in good physical condition,' said a Peruvian navy port captain, Jorge González.

A Nigerian accomplice and two African women arrested in India with 37.87 kg of drugs worth $8.6m

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths of Mangaluru City Police in India arrested two African women and seized 37.87 kg of MDMA, estimated to be worth Rs 75 crore.

Though some publications reported that the arrested women are Nigerian nationals, Times of India identified the accused as Bamba Fanta, alias Adonis Jabulile, 31, from Agbovillae, South Africa, currently residing in Vipin Garden, Nawada, New Delhi and Abigail Adonis, alias Olijo Evans, 30, from Pretoria, South Africa, residing in Malviya Nagar, New Delhi.

City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal told reporters on Sunday, March 16, 2025 that the operation was part of a six-month-long investigation, leading to the arrest of Nigerian national identified as Peter Ikedi Belonwu, said to be a member of the drug smuggling and distribution syndicate.

According to the police, Fanta arrived in India in 2020 on a business visa and was running a food cart, while Adonis came in 2016 on a medical visa and was engaged in the garment business.

Agrawal added that the police seized two trolley bags, two passports, Rs 18, 460 in cash and other incriminating items from the women.

The accused were allegedly transporting MDMA in crystal form from Delhi to Bengaluru by flight for large-scale distribution. They were arrested near Neeladri Nagar, near Electronic City, Bengaluru.

The operation was part of a six-month-long investigation led by CCB ACP Manoj Kumar, following the arrest of a man named Hyder Ali at Pumpwell by Mangaluru East Police, where 15 grams of MDMA were seized.

Subsequently, the CCB took over the investigation and traced the supply chain to Bengaluru, leading to the arrest of Nigerian national Peter Ikedi Belonwu, from whom 6.248 kg of MDMA was recovered.

Further investigations revealed that the South African women were smuggling MDMA via air routes from Delhi to Bengaluru, prompting continuous tracking.

On March 13, based on specific intelligence, the CCB team rushed to Bengaluru and began monitoring the movement of the two accused women.

Upon their arrival at the airport the next day, they were placed under surveillance and followed for five to six hours in an attempt to trace other members of the network.

Finally, they were arrested on March 14 at Neeladri Nagar, Bengaluru.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the duo were supplying MDMA to Nigerian nationals and others in Nelamangala, Hosakote, and KR Puram, leading a lavish lifestyle.

The police also found that they were using fake passports and visas and would return to Delhi within 24 hours after deliveries.

The source of the MDMA, whether procured domestically or trafficked from outside India, is still under investigation, the commissioner stated.

The commissioner further revealed that in the last six months, the duo had travelled 59 times between Delhi and Bengaluru.

They have reportedly confessed to being involved in drug peddling for over 1.5 years.

Considering the scale of the drug bust and the interstate network involved, the City Police will coordinate with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to further probe the case.

Commissioner Anupam Agrawal also stated that he would recommend a suitable reward for the team to the Home Minister and propose the chief minister’s Medal for their efforts.

DCPs Sidharth Goyal and K Ravishankar, ACP Manoj Kumar, and CCB staff were present during the briefing.

The case is still under investigation, with authorities working to uncover the entire network behind the smuggling and distribution of MDMA in Karnataka.

An NYSC Corper receives threats for criticizing Tinubu’s govt

A youth corper in Nigeria has come under fire after speaking out about her frustration with the government over the rising cost of living and economic struggles in the country

In an emotional video, she criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, questioning its response to the ongoing inflation and economic downturn.

“I genuinely feel so overwhelmed,” she said. “If a lot of Nigerians come out and start speaking on what we are actually going through, then maybe changes will be made in the government, don’t you guys think?”

The corper expressed frustration over skyrocketing prices of basic goods and services, including food, transportation, and rent. She recalled visiting a supermarket, where she was shocked to find that a crate of eggs now costs N6,500, a significant jump from previous years.

“It’s just like every single week, prices increase. I want to know what the government is doing about this increment,” she lamented. “Why am I going to get a crate of eggs, and they are telling me it is N6,500? I literally can’t remember when eggs used to cost N800.”

She also decried the rising cost of electricity bills and transportation, saying, “Uber is about N25,000 to go to a certain location with friends. We can’t even take Uber. Why are things so expensive?”

Beyond inflation, she highlighted issues such as poor living conditions, high data costs, and the struggles of young Nigerians trying to start businesses. She described the NYSC program as unbeneficial, stating that the allowance given to corps members does not cover basic expenses.

“Being an NYSC corper, there’s nothing beneficial about this whole NYSC thing. The money I spend on transportation is just more than the alawi the government gives me. I can’t keep up,” she added.

Shortly after posting the video, the corper revealed that she received threatening phone calls from NYSC officials. According to her, the calls started with the NYSC secretariat before escalating to the Local Government Inspector (LGI).

“So guys, yesterday I made a video talking about the Nigerian government and how terrible President Tinubu is, and I was crying in the video,” she said in an update. “Thirty minutes ago, I just received a call from the NYSC board.”

She claimed that the official yelled at her, demanding she take down the video. “Hey, pull down that rubbish you put there,” the official reportedly said.

Expressing fear over the situation, the corper noted that NYSC officials had access to her personal details, including her home address. “Every NYSC corper has to fill a file with their phone number and address. I’m like, these people actually have my house address and know where I’m staying. And now they have started calling me first to threaten me,” she said.

She defended her right to criticize the government, insisting she was not insulting President Tinubu but merely demanding accountability. “I wasn’t insulting the president, ma. I was only asking for accountability. I said he is a terrible president. That is not an insult; it is a statement,” she argued.

The corper voiced concerns over her safety, stating that she was being repeatedly called and intimidated for simply speaking out. “Now I’m putting it out here so you guys will see and know. NYSC has my house address, and they are calling me to threaten me. So in case anything happens, you will be very much aware where the problem started,” she warned.

Instead of addressing her concerns, she said, the NYSC officials resorted to threats. “I should have said the Nigerian government is not doing anything about the inflation that is happening, and it’s causing us to be very depressed,” she stated. “And instead of me getting a call saying, ‘Oh, we are working on it,’ I’m getting a call saying, ‘Oh, you’re very stupid. Why did you do that to Tinubu? Take down that video.’”

Trump threatens Putin if he refuse to accept the 30-day ceasefire deal agreed with Ukraine

The US President, Donald Trump, has warned Russia of possible 'devastating' consequences if President Vladimir Putin does not agree to a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine.

Trump issued the ultimatum while discussing his team's efforts to bring an end to the brutal conflict between the two nations.

When asked what the U.S. could do to pressure Russia into peace, he said, 'There are things that wouldn't be pleasant in a financial sense. I can do things financially that would be very bad for Russia. I don't want to do that because I want to get peace.'

Trump added: 'In a financial sense, yes, we could do things that would be very bad for Russia; that would be devastating for Russia. But I don't want to do that.'

He spoke after Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz announced that Ukraine had agreed to a 30-day ceasefire if Russia also agreed.

The U.S. has already imposed a series of economic sanctions on Russia and Russian oligarchs after the country seized Crimea in 2014 and then launched a full-scale invasion in 2022.

Now, the fate of a potential ceasefire is in Russia's hands, and Trump is turning up the economic heat on the aggressor.

Trump was asked if Putin would honor a cease-fire, having broken them in the past.

'We haven't spoken to him yet with substance, because we just found out. We're going to know very soon. I've gotten some positive messages, but a positive message means nothing. Very serious situation. This is a situation that could lead to World War III.'

On Tuesday, after talks in Saudi Arabia, Ukraine agreed to a U.S. proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Russia as the U.S. announced a lifting of the pause on military aid and intelligence sharing with the country.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said afterward that the ball is now in Russia's court.

'We´re going to tell them this is what's on the table. Ukraine is ready to stop shooting and start talking. And now it'll be up to them to say yes or no,' Rubio said.

JUST IN: Reps push for diphtheria vaccination in schools following outbreak in King’s College

The Federal House of Representatives has urged the federal government to intensify diphtheria vaccination and awareness campaigns in schools across the country. The resolution was passed during plenary on Wednesday, March 12, following the adoption of a motion sponsored by Akin Rotimi, the house spokesperson.

The move follows reports that several students at King’s College Lagos were hospitalized due to a diphtheria outbreak. Diphtheria is a bacterial infection caused by the Corynebacterium species that affects the nose, throat, and sometimes the skin. Symptoms of the disease include fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, red eyes, neck swelling, and difficulty breathing. In recent months, the disease has claimed the lives of hundreds, mostly children.

In presenting the motion, Rotimi emphasized that the outbreak at King’s College revealed significant lapses in infection prevention and control measures at federal unity colleges. He stressed the urgent need for a comprehensive nationwide health and safety strategy for schools.

The motion was unanimously adopted after being put to a voice vote by House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas. Following the vote, the House called on the Federal Ministry of Health, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to "intensify diphtheria vaccination and awareness campaigns" in schools across the country to prevent future outbreaks.Nigerian home decor ideas

Additionally, the House urged the government to take "immediate and decisive" actions to strengthen health and safety protocols in all federal unity colleges, with a particular focus on King’s College.

Anambra State Governor bans loud preaching in markets, imposes N500,000 fine

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, issued a warning to roadside preachers using loudspeakers in public spaces, particularly in markets, accusing them of causing noise pollution and also disturbing residents.

Soludo declared that anyone caught violating the noise pollution order would face a $500,000 fine.

A viral video circulating on social media on Saturday captures the governor confronting an unidentified roadside preacher at a market, instructing him to stop disrupting traders with his preaching. He advised the preacher to either preach in a church or rent an open field, emphasizing that those interested in listening would seek him out there.

Addressing traders at what is believed to be Ochanja Market in Onitsha, Soludo stated, “If you want to preach the word of God, go to your church. You are causing noise pollution here. You cannot come to a marketplace and disturb everyone.”

He reiterated that markets are not places of worship and that unauthorized religious activities in public spaces would not be tolerated. “If you want to preach, go to a church. Those who want to listen will come to you; you cannot force people in the market to hear your message.”

The governor emphasized that anyone attempting to turn a public space into a church would be charged accordingly. “You will pay ₦500,000 because we cannot allow this. We have banned loudspeakers in markets due to noise pollution, which affects people’s eardrums. You cannot force people to listen to your preaching. We are cracking down on fake pastors and prophets in Anambra.”

Two years after their engagement,Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez finally set the date for 'wedding of the century'

Finally, Amazon boss Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez have put their plans for a wedding into place two years after they got engaged, according to Daily Mail.

The couple announced they were getting married back in May 2023, when Jeff Bezos one of the world's richest men, gave Sanchez a pink diamond ring so enormous she later said she "nearly blacked out" when she saw it.

The couple hosted an engagement party on his luxurious superyacht during the summer, inviting notable guests such as tech billionaire Bill Gates, Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio, and Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner.

Rumors suggested a "winter wonderland wedding" was planned for December 28 in Aspen last year, but the day passed without a ceremony.

A source close to the couple told Daily Mail that the wedding is very much "still on" and will happen this summer. Plans have been "inked in", with invitations coming imminently.

Sources say Sanchez has already bought her wedding dress from Oscar de la Renta.

In November 2023, former TV host Sanchez shared that she will be taking the last name Bezos, saying: "Uh, yes, one hundred percent. I am looking forward to being Mrs Bezos."

In one interview Sanchez gushed about Bezos: "He's so happy, he inspires me every day. He makes me a better person every day. He's the most loving human I know."

While Bezos told CNN: "Lauren is the most generous, most big-hearted person that you would ever meet... She never misses a birthday. The network of people that she gives birthday presents to is gigantic. And that's just a small example.

"We're really great teammates, and we also have a lot of fun together. And we love each other."

Bezos, 61, was previously married to novelist MacKenzie Scott for 25 years. They had four children.

JUST IN: South Korean military fighter jets accidentally bomb homes, injuring 15 civilians

During a live-fire drill with US forces, South Korean fighter planes mistakenly bombed residences, hurting over a dozen people, Seoul's military said Thursday.

Eight MK-82 general-purpose bombs were “abnormally dropped” from two KF-16 fighter jets and landed outside the designated firing range at approximately 10:07 a.m. local time, hitting civilian infrastructure in Pocheon city, northeast of the capital Seoul, according to the South Korean Air Force.

South Korea’s defense ministry said initial findings indicated the accident was caused by a pilot inputting incorrect bombing coordinates.

An image that local media outlets said captured the aftermath of the explosions showed thick smoke billowing into the air in a rural area.

Fifteen civilians were injured, including two seriously wounded. The National Fire Agency told CNN that no cardiac arrests or unconsciousness were reported.

The blasts destroyed two residential buildings, part of a church, and a truck.

“The scene of the incident is chaotic, resembling a battlefield,” Pocheon Mayor Baek Young-hyun said in a televised statement.

The aircraft were participating in a joint live-fire exercise with the South Korean Army and the US military, related to the annual joint US-South Korea “Freedom Shield” military drills, the South Korean Air Force told CNN, without providing further details.

South Korea’s military said all live-fire training would be suspended from Thursday until a probe into the incident had concluded. An accident response team has been formed to investigate, and the air force said it would provide compensation for damages.

The air force apologized that the “abnormal bomb release has caused civilian damage” and wished the injured a swift recovery.

The Freedom Shield drills were scheduled to run from March 10 to March 20 to strengthen the US-South Korean alliance’s combined defense posture, Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said earlier Thursday.

The annual drills often anger nuclear-armed North Korea, and leader Kim Jong Un has accused the United States and South Korea of increasing tensions with their joint drills and Pyongyang often responds with bellicose threats.

BREAKING NEWS: Senate suspends Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months

Finally, the Nigerian Senate has suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, for six months, effective March 6, 2025, over alleged misconduct and violation of Senate rules 2023 (as amended).

The decision for her suspension was taken following a recommendation by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions, chaired by Senator Neda Imasuen.

While presenting the committee's recommendation before the house this morning, Senator Imasuen said Akpoti-Uduaghan failed to adhere to Senate rules and also disregarded the committee by refusing to honour its invitation.

Reading the committee’s recommendations, Senator Imasuen stated,

“One, that the Senate do suspend Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months for her total violation of Senate standing rules, bringing the presiding officer and the entire Senate to public opprobrium.

Two, that for the Senate to consider lifting or reducing the duration of the suspension, Senator Natasha Uduaghan shall submit a written apology to the Senate before reconsideration.

Three, that the Senate suspend Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan with effect from March 6, 2025, from all legislative activities.

Four, that her office be locked up for the duration of her suspension and that she hand over all Senate properties in her possession to the Clerk of the National Assembly.

Five, that for the duration of her suspension, she must not be seen within the vicinity of the Senate or the National Assembly, including her staff.

Six, that her salaries and allowances, including those of her legislative aides, be suspended, and that all security details assigned to her be withdrawn for the period of her suspension.

Seven, that during her suspension, she be barred from representing herself locally and internationally as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

After a lengthy debate, the Senators adopted the recommendations through a voice vote with a slight amendment to the 6th recommendation, allowing Senator Natasha’s aides to receive their salaries and allowances in order not to suffer unduly.

Senator Natasha briefly interrupted the proceedings, saying the injustice against her won’t be sustained. She was thereafter escorted out of the chamber.

Nigerian power minister says tariff increase will push available power generation to 7,000MW

The Nigerian Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has stated that the proposed electricity tariff increase will push available generation capacity to approximately 7,000 megawatts. This follows the country’s record peak electricity generation of 5,801.84MW achieved last week.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Strategic Communication, Bolaji Tunji, Adelabu explained that regularizing tariffs is crucial to unlocking the sector’s full potential and improving power generation and distribution.

“To sustain these improvements, the Government would have to pay down on the tariff shortfalls of N1.94 trillion for 2024 and legacy debts of N2 trillion to the GENCOs. It would be important to continue the tariff reforms to ensure consumers start to pay for the energy consumed. By the time the tariffs are fully regularized, we will be moving closer to 7,000 MW of available generation capacity. This will mark another significant milestone in our journey towards a stable, reliable, and efficient power sector that meets the needs of all Nigerians,” Adelabu stated.

Last week, the minister revealed the government’s plan to raise electricity tariffs for customers in Bands B, C, and D as part of efforts to boost liquidity in the sector and reduce government subsidy obligations. The proposed tariff adjustment is expected to narrow the gap between Band A customers and those in other categories.

According to the statement, available power generation has now risen to 6,003MW, the highest in Nigeria’s history. It was followed by a peak generation evacuation of 5,801.84MW and a daily maximum energy output of 128,370.75 megawatt-hours (MWh).

“We are thrilled to announce these historic milestones in Nigeria’s power sector. The record available generation of 6,003MW, the peak evacuation of 5,801.84MW, and the daily maximum energy output of 128,370.75MWh are testaments to the hard work, dedication, and strategic reforms being implemented under the leadership of the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu,” the statement read.

The minister emphasized that these achievements are not just statistics but represent progress toward a future where businesses thrive, households enjoy uninterrupted power, and the economy grows sustainably. He expressed hope for the continuity of these records and further improvements in the sector.

Tunji quoted the minister as saying that the recent progress results from concerted efforts by the Federal Ministry of Power, in collaboration with key stakeholders, to tackle long-standing challenges and optimize the country’s power infrastructure. These efforts include rehabilitating and upgrading transmission and distribution networks, implementing innovative technologies, and introducing policy reforms to enhance efficiency and accountability.

While celebrating the achievements, Adelabu called for sustained collaboration among all stakeholders, including state governments, private sector players, and the general public, to ensure that the progress made in the power sector is maintained and further built upon.

Lagos state Police reveals that LASU graduate is missing, not killed by ritualists

The Nigerian Police Command of Lagos State has refuted reports of the alleged ritual killing of a 28-year-old Lagos State University graduate, Adedamola Ogunbode.

LIB had earlier reported that Adedamola, a 2024 graduate of Political Science Education went missing on January 16,2025.

His girlfriend said she called Adedamola on the day he went missing and he told her that he was in front of the CCC Ileri Oluwa Parish, LASU 2 with Evangelist Whepetoji Babaniyeh (pictured above) and would call her back, but he never did and has not been heard from since then.

There have been reports that Ogunbode was killed in the church and that the pastor has even been arrested.

Reacting to the case, the command's spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a chat with Punch,  confirmed that Ogunbode was declared missing, however, his mutilated body was not found as circulated on social media.

“A report was made to the police that the said graduate was missing and three suspects were arrested, including a prophet.  However, the police did not discover any mutilated body of the missing graduate as being circulated on social media.  He is still missing and we are investigating a case of a missing person, not murder. There is no dead person anywhere.”

The development came after the management of the university demanded justice for the missing graduate who was alleged to have been killed by the prophet. This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Deputy Registrar and Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations, Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile.

Thomas-Onashile stated that investigations by the security agencies revealed that the deceased’s mutilated body was purportedly found buried in the compound of a popular church in the area.

The statement read,

“The university management is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of Ogunbode, a recent graduate of LASU. The deceased, fondly known as Horlar, was allegedly killed by a prophet in the Ojo area of Lagos State, reportedly for ritual purposes. According to the report received by the management, Ogunbode, a 28-year-old graduate of Political Science Education, had been missing since January 16.”

The Deputy Registrar while condemning what she described as a senseless act of violence, called for swift and thorough action by the relevant security agencies to ensure that those responsible face justice.

“The prophet of the church has been arrested and is currently assisting the police with their investigation. The university management extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew him. His untimely death is a terrible loss to the entire university community, and we share in the grief of all who are mourning his passing.

We call for swift and thorough action by the relevant security agencies to ensure that those responsible face justice and that the perpetrators of this horrific crime do not go unpunished. In the meantime, we urge our university community, especially our world-class students, to remain calm, while the authorities carry out their investigations.”

A divorce lawyer unvails the signs that you are being cheated on and which professions are most likely to cheat on their spouse

A lawyer who specializes in handling divorce cases has revealed the professions most likely to cheat on their partner and the signs you are being cheated on.

Kate Simonds, 39 – a divorce attorney with 15 years’ experience—has revealed the occupations of people she believes are most likely to be unfaithful.

She says police officers, firefighters, and people in the military are “more likely to cheat” because of their “ego” and the fact that they are around people 24/7.

Kate also revealed the job roles of those most likely to stay faithful to their partner.

She said accountants, farmers, and pharmacists are most likely to stay faithful to their partners due to their personality types and more isolated career choice.

Kate, from Phoenix, Arizona, US, said: “Infidelity is the worst thing that can happen to a marriage.

“In my opinion, people don’t get divorced because of the cheating, but all the problems around infidelity and the issues it brings.

“I have been working as a divorce attorney for 15 years, my opinion was formed by the people we see.

“We are in Phoenix, and we have a very large cross-section.

“The professions I am talking about come from the number of people in those professions we’ve seen.”

Kate believes the most likely profession to cheat on their partners are public service workers – including cops, firefighters, and people working in the military.

She believes this is because they are regularly away from home and “women are attracted to the uniform”.

“Cops and firefighters are the most likely to cheat, and that is pretty well settled,” Kate said.

“Everyone knows what is going on in the cop shop.

“They are in contact with other people a lot of the time, and they have a stereotypical personality type.

“You need a big ego to be able to do that job, and women are attracted to the uniform – it is the perfect storm.”

Kate suggests occupations where people are more likely to stay faithful to their spouse include people who work in farming, accountants, and pharmacists.

She said that accountants are generally more reserved, farmers are loyal due to how hard they work, and claims “nobody ever divorces a pharmacist”.

Kate said: “I think accountants are more reserved, stereotypical accountants are very black-and-white people – I think it is their personality.

“Farmers are definitely in the non-cheating column, it may be in part because of how much they work, it would be nice to assume that it comes from their personality type.

“They are very trustworthy and family-oriented.

“Nobody I know of has ever divorced a farmer, or a pharmacist for that matter.”

Kate claims tell-tale signs you are being cheated on include your partner reducing their communication, and them starting self-improving without involving you.

“My strong opinion is that cheating has more to do with the person who is cheating than the person who has been cheated on,” Kate said.

“The number one signal that you are being cheated on is a reduction in communication where the person seems self-isolated.

“Another sign is when someone starts self-improvement that does not involve their partner.

“I feel like the other person is unhappy with themselves in some way, they are looking to change but not wanting to change with their partner.

“Cheating stems from their unhappiness.”

Summarily, most likely professions to cheat in Kate’s opinion are Police officers, Firefighters, and People in the military.

Most likely professions to be faithful in Kate’s opinion are Farmers, Accountants, and Pharmacists.

The tell-tale signs you’re being cheated on according to Kate are: Focusing on self improvement without involving you, Reducing their communication, and Keeping secrets.

JIST IN: Boko Haram demands $500,000 ransom for judge’s wife, driver and orderly

The Nigerian Boko Haram terrorists have demanded a ransom of $500,000 for the release of the wife, police orderly, and driver of Justice Haruna Mshelia, a High Court judge in Borno State.

A family source told Daily Trust that the terrorists rejected an initial offer of $50,000, insisting on the full amount before releasing the remaining captives.

Justice Mshelia was abducted on June 24, 2024, along with his wife, Binta Othman—a magistrate at Wulari Court in Maiduguri—his orderly, and his driver. The terrorists released Justice Mshelia on September 8 after a substantial ransom was paid, but only on the condition that he raises an additional $500,000 for his family's release.

“We learned that the family managed to raise almost $50,000, but the insurgents turned down the offer, insisting on the full $500,000,” a source said.

When contacted for an update on the abducted police orderly, the Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, requested more time to consult before making a statement.

Efforts to reach Justice Haruna Mshelia for comments were unsuccessful, as his phone remained unreachable.

Meanwhile, the Dean of the Technology Department at the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB), Professor Abubakar Eljuma, remains in captivity. Sources from the university said the suspected Boko Haram terrorists who abducted him have yet to contact either the university or his family regarding his fate.

In a separate attack, suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked a police station in Malari, Konduga LGA of Borno State, on Wednesday, partially damaging an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC).

The Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed the attack, stating that the terrorists were met with superior firepower and fled with gunshot wounds. He noted that the attackers managed only to deflate the tyres of the police APC in an attempt to damage vehicles and infrastructure in the area.

Paulo Fonseca, Lyon manager, gets 9-month ban for squaring up to a referee in ugly confrontation

The manager of Lyon, Paulo Fonseca has been suspended from conducting his matchday duties for almost nine months for angrily confronting a referee.

Fonseca, 52, was sent off and pushed his face towards official Benoit Millot during Lyon's 2-1 win over Brest on 2 March.

In a statement, the French Professional Football League said the Portuguese boss would be barred from accessing the bench, the officials' dressing rooms, and carrying out any official functions before, during, or after matches until 30 November.

The punishment also prevents him from going to the team dressing room, pitch, tunnel and corridors leading to those areas until 15 September.

Lyon acknowledged "the extreme severity of the unprecedented sanction" and said they were concerned by the speed in which it was imposed.

The seven-time French champions, who are currently sixth in Ligue 1, added they were disappointed Fonseca was "not judged on his actions alone, an emotional reaction, without any clear intention of physically attacking the referee" and were "studying all possible avenues of appeal".

Fonseca, who apologised after the incident, only took charge of the club on 31 January after leaving AC Milan the previous month.

His side are due to face FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday (17:45 GMT).

He was sent off after a review of a potential penalty for Brest - which was not awarded - for his "intimidating attitude", according to Millot.

"He jumped at me with an intimidating attitude, and I decided to send him off directly. It continued to spiral out of control," Millot told French sports newspaper L'Equipe on Monday.

"He had an even more intense attitude, attempting to deliver a blow, in fact. A headbutt. I didn't even have time to announce the final decision, which turned out to be not awarding a penalty.

"There seemed to be a slight contact of the nose, to be precise."

Last week, the French referees union said its members would exercise their right to withdraw if they or their families are put at risk after a match official faced an "outpouring of hate" following comments by Marseille president Pablo Longoria.

JUST IN: Police find suspects in fatal sho0ting of rapper G$ Lil Ronnie and his 5-year old daughter

US Police have discovered and released photos of two men they’re searching for in connection with the fatal shooting of American rapper G$ Lil Ronnie and his 5-year-old daughter.

Forest Hill Police Chief David Hernandez said in a press conference that they have secured two capital murder warrants for Adonis Robinson, 24, who is also a registered s3x offender, and Jakobie Russell, 21, in connection with the sho0ting.

Police identify suspects in fatal sho0ting of rapper G$ Lil Ronnie and his 5-year-old daughter

“They’re scared, they’re cowards, they’re hiding,” Hernandez said of the suspects Wednesday. “We ask the public, please, you know where they’re at, let us know.”

Fort Worth rapper Ronnie "LilRonnie" Sibley, also known as G$ Lil Ronnie, and his 5-year-old daughter, R'mani Sibley, were identified by Ronnie's aunt as the two killed in a shooting Monday at the Slappy's Express car wash in the 6500 block of Forest Hill Drive.

Authorities found the victim's car with bullet holes in the windshield and performed life-saving measures on the victims, but they were both pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Forest Hill PD said its preliminary investigation revealed two suspects exited a white four-door Kia, approached the victim's car, and opened fire. The suspects were described as two Black men wearing blue jeans and grey sweaters, police said.

The Texas Rangers have been leading the investigation. Police said Monday the investigation is ongoing and they’re still working to identify a motive.

“The safety of the general public is our first concern,” Forest Hill Mayor Stephanie Boardingham said Wednesday. “We are confident the employees acted quickly in this incident.”

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family, to our community because everyone was affected,” she added.

The fatal sho0ting at the car wash is the third major incident involving gunfire for the Forest Hill Police Department this year.

Detectives said they're investigating the sho0ting death of a woman killed last week by a stray bullet while in her backyard. The Forest Hill Police Department is also investigating a sho0ting at a dealership, where they arrested one person.

Snake bites man's p3n!s and refuses to let go (video)

Check out the agonising moment a man writhed in pain after a snake bit his p3n!s and refused to let go in troubling scenes from Brazil.

Victim was seen in viral video grimacing on the ground as a friend filmed from a distance.

A third person bravely stepped in to remove the obstinate reptile with a stick, forcing the rod into the snake's jaws in an effort to break its grip.

However, the snake refused to leave the man's p3n!s.

Struggling for solutions, the group poured water on the snake but that had no effect.

The video, filmed in Pantanal, Brazil, was shared widely on Instagram and TikTok, with audiences sharing in horrified reaction.

Crocodile Cam, a popular animal conservationist on X, said that the snake was a king cobra, carrying a neurotoxic venom that "attacks the nerves and can cause paralysis"

"They have enough venom to k!ll 20 grown men or one adult elephant and their venom can k!ll you in as little as 15 minutes."

Wife caught Husband having s3x with mistress in work van (video)

A wife caught her husband half n@ked in the back of a van with another woman.

Video of Warren Cherowbrier, 34, being confronted by wife Charmain Cherowbrier, has gone viral on social media.

The video shows Charmain screaming at Warren, asking if he was “f****** her in the back of the van”.

Warren shouted back, “I’ll k!ll you”.

Chermain then went to the back of the van and forced the doors open, exposing her husband with his trousers down as the other woman did her best to hide her face before climbing into the front seat.

With the video going viral, Mr Cherowbrier has now defended himself, insisting he has done nothing wrong.

He told MailOnline: “There's two sides to every story.

“It's not a difficult time for me at all because I separated from my wife and I had moved out of the marital home. It happens thousands of times, every single day, everywhere in the world, so as far as I'm concerned, I've done nothing wrong.

“We separated last year and I moved out of the marital home, so I don't see the big deal with it. The only problem is it's gone viral.”

Charmain posted about it on her TikTok account and said, "When you’re the good little loyal wife but get f***** over by the only person you loved.

“He walks all over you and treats you like s*** because you love him and would do anything for him but all you’re doing is losing yourself, your self-esteem, and your self-respect. I’ve always been the good loyal wife that put you before myself, you were my world. I would have died for you and in return?

“The lying, the cheating, the disrespect, the belittling, the making me think I wasn't worth anything more than what you were giving me. I put in 1000% and got 1% in return.”

"I gave you 17 years of me, even after all the hurt and pain you out me through I still tried to make us work but you didn't put in the same effort," she added in another post.

Many people threw their support behind the mum.

One person wrote: "Mine done the same multiple times, stay strong it gets easier, regroup, refocus and kick him to the curb. You’re amazing, remember that.”
