Massive protest breaks-out at National Assembly: The entrance to the National Assembly in Abuja, was on Tuesday morning, blocked by Thousands of protesters who were demanding the immediate reinstatement of the susoended senator representing Borno south in the Senate, Ali Ndume.
It was gathered that the protesters arrived the National Assembly gate early on Tuesday, with placards lambasting the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Nigerian Senate.
“Saraki is a curse”, one placard read.
Many of the protesters said they were natives of southern Borno, Ali Ndume’s district, but mostly live in Mararaba and Masaka areas of Abuja.
A correspondent at the scene said the protesters did not immediately appear like the usual “rented crowd”.
Recall that Senator Ndume was suspended last week by the Senate for triggering investigations into allegations of forgery against the senate president, Bukola Saraki, and Kogi senator, Dino Melaye.
Saraki was accused of importing a Range Rover SUV without paying appropriate import duty, and attempting to clear the vehicle with falsified papers. While Dino Melaye was accused of falsely claiming to have graduated from Ahmadu Bello University.
