Actress Shirley Emma shares testimony of how she became paralyzed

Beautiful Ghanaian actress, Shirley Emma Fatima Tibilla, has taken to Instagram to share a testimony of how she was saved from an ailment that made her become a ‘vegetable’. According to her, the ailment left her bedridden for a month, as she couldn’t even eat, couldn’t talk, couldn’t even bath herself either.

“MY TESTIMONY
Dear July 2016. Yes July, That was last year. The month in which God spared me from an ailment that should have killed me and gave me a second chance to live. The devil almost succeeded in taking me out but “Mercy” said NO!!! The picture on the left doesn’t even do enough justice to how I looked. I was bed ridden for a month. Couldn’t eat, couldn’t talk, couldn’t even bath myself. I became a vegetable and I was uselessly helpless. My only option was to feed off Prayer and wait for God to do His thing. The wait was the hardest but today I celebrate God and I celebrate life!! My immune system was completely shut down n anything and everything attached me. Lord I felt every pain that could be felt in my body. One month felt like 10 years UNTIL GOD CAME THROUGH AND COMPLETELY HEALED ME. My recovery was faster than usual and didn’t make sense. That’s how I knew “THAT WAS YOU GOD”

To the few good people who were there for me at that time, God bless u. I will never forget!

If you are reading this from any part of the world, if you are going through any craziness like sickness and disease, financial downtime, emotional breakdown or any sort of affliction, plsssssss don’t give up!! Hold on to God and hold onto prayer. He answers prayer that is backed by faith. Give his words back to Him and watch him perform. He’s the master Deliverer! .

Wande Coal shines like a ‘black diamond’ on the cover of Guardian life magazine (photos)

If you’ve ever listened to Wande Coal then you’ll know that his sound isn’t ordinary. His style of music, which embodies a cross between RnB and Afro beats, never gets old! On a chilled Sunday afternoon in Abuja, Guardian Life had an interesting chat with Wande Coal who talks about his transition from Mo’Hits, to Mavin Records and finally Black Diamond Entertainment. He also talks about some interesting facts you probably don’t know about him.

More..

Read excerpts below

How did you get the name Wande Coal?

Wande is my real name and Coal is because of my dark colour.

What was the first song you wrote?

At the time I just would beat my chest and sing, Ololufe was the song that put me out there.

Which artist inspired your music career?

It was my 300 level, I remember Tuface came to the school, and everybody went wild. People were on him, and he came to one of the hostels and he sang. In my mind, I was like wow, I want this too. I have always been a big fan of Tuface.

Who were you a backup singer for?

I started off as a learner, I used to be a backup singer to D’banj and we would go on trips together until I became an artist.

How did D’banj treat you as a boss?

He was a militant! But in a good way, he was always positively driven and I learnt a lot from him.

Word on the street is that Nigerian artists are mimicking Ghanaian sound. What do you think about that?

I look at Ghana and Nigeria like Canadians and Americans. They are family, so both of us have something, but a fusion of it is what creates the sound. We speak Pigeon, they also speak Pigeon so they can flow with us, and I would say both of us rub off on each other.

Who are your main industry guys?

My guys are many, I’m that guy that hangs out with everyone. Just to mention a few, Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy and Flavour.

What is your favourite album of all time?

The Konvicted Akon album and Face 2 Face Tuface album were my main inspirations.

What’s your dream location and with who?

If I could be anywhere I would be in America, particularly Atlanta because it has a music vibe. I would be in the studio with Jazzy Fizzle or Wiz Khalifa.

What do you do in your spare time?

I play basketball; I’m usually the point guard when I go with my guys. I also swim sometimes.

Choose between Ghanian or Nigerian jollof?

I love both of them so there’s a problem, I can never choose which one I like better!

Favourite series at the moment

I am in love with Power, I’m actually watching it right now and Ghost is my favourite character.

Police officers force girl to remove her clothes in a police station in front of male prisoners (photos)

Police officers force girl to remove her clothes: A model who says she was forced to strip and expose herself in a Colombian police station in front of male prisoners is suing officers after they shared the X-rated footage online, Dailymail has reported. The woman identified as Katherine Martinez, a 27-year-old model and mother-of-one was forced to expose her body officers while she is handcuffed to a window in a police station in Cali, Colombia. The disturbing footage showing the model being forced to sprint in front of prisoners in a Colombian police station has been circulating online.

However Ms Martinez claims she only played up for the video because she was drunk, and was doing as the officers asked so that they would bring her a chair. Speaking to Dailymail, she said: ‘All the police officers told me that if I wanted them to pass me a chair or take my handcuffs off, I had to take off my dress and show them my body.

‘Then the male prisoners began to yell at me, “Yes, yes, lift your dress up.” ‘I remember some things but not everything. I remember them telling me they were filming me.’

She also said the incident has ‘badly affected’ her emotionally. Cali Police commander Hugo Casas has apologised for his officers’ behaviour.

He said: ‘Our police force condemns this behaviour and disciplinary and judicial investigations are underway. ‘The officers have been fully identified. One is a patrol officer who drove the woman to the station, but another official is involved for failing to assist her.’

Adekunle Gold reveals the type of woman he likes

Adekunle Gold reveals the type of woman he likes: Singer Adekunle Gold, needs little or no introduction in the entertainment industry as he recently marked one year anniversary of his debut album “Gold“. The SHADE crooner, opened up on his deal with YBNL, his ideal girl and of course his music, during an interview with Sunday Scoop.

On his music:

“It is my personal resolve to keep making clean music. I am not under any pressure whatsoever to change the type of lyrics I sing. I like to pass across messages with my songs. Music is supposed to be a vehicle for social change. If you notice, my songs often dwell on topical issues that people can relate with and learn from. A true hit song is one that people can still enjoy many years after it was recorded. But some songs that were released just last year are no longer relevant or appealing, and that is because they are shallow and not in tune with the times,”

On his love for African print:

“I am a proud African and it’s up to me to showcase my culture and let people know more good things about the continent. Whenever I travel, foreigners admire my outfit and some of them even request for the type. It is the way we treat our things that outsiders would also perceive it. I want to implore everyone to give priority to our local products.”

On how he met YBNL boss, Olamide:

“I met Olamide when I was called upon to design the YBNL logo. I also did some other works for members of the label. After I sang Sade, Olamide heard it and liked it, so we had a discussion and he offered me a deal. I gladly accepted.”

On his type of woman he likes, Adekunle said,

“My ideal girl is someone who is a go-getter. She must know what she wants and be prepared to work for it. I don’t like people who are too laid-back and don’t even have plans for their lives.”

Read on and see which ones you’ve been guilty of.

More..

Below, we rounded up various scientific findings on the traits and behaviors that make people dislike you, both online and in person.

1. Sharing too many photos on Social Media

If you’re the kind of person who shares snapshots of your honeymoon, cousin’s graduation, and dog dressed in a Halloween costume all in the same day, you might want to stop. A 2013 study found that posting too many photos on Social Media can hurt your real-life relationships. “This is because people, other than very close friends and relatives, don’t seem to relate well to those who constantly share photos of themselves,” lead study author David Houghton, of Birmingham Business School, said in a release.

Specifically, friends don’t like it when you’ve got too many photos of family, and relatives don’t like it when you’ve got too many photos of friends. Ben Marder, of the University of Edinburgh, also worked on the study, and warned: “Be cautious when sharing and think how it will be perceived by all the others who may see it. Although sharing is a great way to better relationships, it can also damage them.”

Pastor Chris Okafor struck woman with blindness: Popular Nigerian pastor, Chris Okafor, has gone viral after a video of him striking a 65 year old woman with blindness after accusing her of witchcraft surfaced. The general overseer of Mountain of Liberation and miracle ministry, Pastor Chris, was conducting a deliverance section and he called out a lady suffering from the issue of blood for six months named Blessing. He said God ministered to him that Blessing’s mother named Dorcas was responsible for her child’s sickness. The 65 year old woman denied and the pastor asked God to blind her in ten minutes.

Soon after, Dorcas went blind and confessed to inflicting her daughter with the illness. She was prayed for and her sight was restored. While many think the pastor played a Nollywood role by trying to be popular, some think he is truly a man of God sent to heal thousands.

Popular City FM OAP diagnosed with cancer

Uche Ugbai, the City FM OAP  who is popularly known as Sensei Uche has revealed why he’s been off air for some months. According to the OAP, he has been battling with cancer and it all started sometime in December 2016. Sensei Uche who took to social media to call on well meaning Nigerians to come to his aid, further said he slowly came to realise that he was losing sense of hearing in his left ear, after he sought medication over a recurring nasal congestion and sore throat.

Here’s his post;

“Hello everyone, my name is Uche Agbai, many of you may know me as ‘SenseiUche’ of City 105.1FM. Those of you who do may have also noticed I have been off air for an unusually long time. In appreciation of the concerned messages and loving support that I have received I would like to take this opportunity to explain the circumstances of my absence.
The story began sometime in December 2016. I had slowly come to realise that I was losing sense of hearing in my left ear. With the onset of persistent nasal congestion and a recurring sore throat I sought medical attention. After visiting a number of hospitals all of whom subjected me to several tests, I was told I had simply been suffering from an infection. I began my treatment in the hopes the symptoms would clear. The symptoms worsened and I started having severe nose bleeds. I was then advised to consult an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. After several scans, an MRI scan of my head revealed an unidentified growth in my upper nasal tract measuring 8.5cm and 3cm wide, my blood ran cold.
The discovery cast my life into limbo, suddenly confronted with several frightening prognoses; potential blindness, partial deafness, anosmia or worse. After undergoing surgery, a biopsy of the mass returned the diagnosis; cancer. Analysis of my scans would show I had a stage 3 nasal lymphoma. To this day I cannot quite find the words to describe the emotions of helplessness and despair that beset me. It was as though my life had suddenly and without fair warning, been brought to a screeching halt. I was advised on the high risk of my situation with the danger that the cancer could metastasise and spread to my brain. Compounded by my struggle in finding adequate medical care in Nigeria, I felt as though I was in a lopsided battle against time for my wellbeing.

It has been in no uncertain terms, thanks to the support of my family, friends, and dear colleagues at City FM that I have been managing to cope with all of this. The emotional, the physical and the financial struggles that accompany fighting such a disease are just too overwhelming for one person to hope to transcend. To those who have been there, my sincerest and deepest gratitude.
My treatment plan consists of 6 courses of chemotherapy and intermittent radiotherapy spread over a 7 month period. My fight has begun, and at the time of writing I have completed 2 courses of chemotherapy at Lakeshore Center in Lagos, with plans to receive radiotherapy in one of their affiliates abroad. With a projected cost of 21,000 USD/~16,000 GBP to complete my treatment, I wish to appeal to you all to help in my battle against cancer.
Yours truly,
Uche ‘SenseiUche’ Agbai

Reminisce reveals how he feels about not graduating from University

Rapper, Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru, aka Reminisce, has achieved quite a lot with his music career. He has a huge following and he is also a brand ambassador for some reputable companies. However, the Kako bi Chicken crooner is not entirely happy; he wishes he was a graduate. Speaking to Punch about the music industry, he said,

“For anybody who wants to make a career out of music, you have to be sure that you are skilled and that it’s something that you can do sustainably; if not, go to school. Either ways, it is important to go to school, whether you go into full-time music or not. I actually regret not being a graduate.”

Speaking about how he has been able to shield his personal life from the public, Reminisce said,

“I always keep my private life private as I believe that I have the right to my privacy. There is a very big difference between Reminisce, the artiste, and Remi, the family man. I thank God because I’m comfortable and I don’t need validation on social media. I don’t have to put everything I own on social media so that people would know that I have arrived. Inasmuch as I’m not begging anybody for food, it’s all good. Instead of flaunting material things, I prefer to invest in people.”

Apart from music, what else does he like to do? The Angelina rapper said,

“I am interested in politics and I see myself becoming a politician in future. One is not going to do music forever and I need to plan my life properly. I also love to engage in business, so I see myself doing a lot of that too.”

Kemi Adetiba, Mo Abudu, Luvvie Ajayi make GC4’s top 100 women list

Award winning director and cinematographer Kemi Adetiba ranked no 50. on GC4 Women‘s Top 100 List alongside fellow Nigerians Mo Abudu, Luvvie Ajayi and Lilian Ajayi-Ore. GC4 Women which is an acronym for Global Connections for Women Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Lilian Ajayi-Ore that believes in all women and girls – and their right to create new opportunities for themselves and their communities

This list includes trendsetting women like Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Malala Yousafza, Meryl Streep among others. Media personality Mo Abudu came in on No. 76, Author Luvvie Ajayi ranked no. 62 while the founder Lilian Ajayi-Ore dropped in on No. 58.

When asked if she hopes to continue to encourage others to tell African stories, Kemi Adetiba said:

Our industry in Africa, especially Nigeria, is still untapped. We have so many stories that need to be told and I want to continue to tell those stories.

Founder Lilian Ajayi-Ore had this to say about how Skype facilitated GC4’s Global outreach:

I still recall working with our partners at Taungana on a STEM for Girls project in South Africa. All of our interactions took place on Skype and it really helped us collaborate more efficiently. The other thing is that the platform allowed us to build a closer friendship with one another. One that extended beyond just working on a program. As an organization, we have been successfully able to reach into several global communities including West Africa, South Africa, parts of Europe and Asia and the United States through this platform. ‘Thank God for Skype’ is an expression my team and I frequently use.

Luvvie Ajayi on her part explains what she loves most about her work:

I love that I’m reaching people. That pushes me forward because sometimes you’re working in a vacuum [and] sometimes you might not feel like your work is getting anywhere. But I love the feedback I’ve been getting, when people tell me that I made their day or I made them smile while they are in the waiting room with their mom who has cancer. So, you know, just bringing joy and making people laugh.

Mo Abudu speaking on the people who she holds in high esteem as role models:

Growing up, my mother was an important role model, and she played a very important role in shaping my worldview. I also grew up in awe of Nelson Mandela and his role in the South African anti-apartheid movement. Recently, I have been inspired by people like Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton who have fought off societal discrimination to reach the highest heights.

Nollywood actress, Liz Da-Silva reveals why she is still single

Togolese-born actress, Liz Da-Silva is one of the big babes rocking the Yoruba movie industry. She got into acting a few years ago via her friend, Iyabo Ojo and she has since risen to the very top. Of note is Liz Da Silva’s Togolese roots, a news not known to many, even her fans. The pretty role interpreter even revealed to City People that her parents are from Togo but they both met here in Nigeria before they agreed to become one.

Liz further revealed why she changed the name of her annual Ankara Day Show to Africulture among other interesting issues about herself.

Here are the excerpts:

You started an annual Ankara Day event which we learnt you have changed to another name, what happened?

It’s an annual show aimed at helping the needy and it comes up on the 27th of December. When I first started, I used to call it Ankara Day and thereafter I started seeing people tagging their various events Ankara Day after which some people will call me to say they heard about my event, when is it coming up. People started getting it mixed up and I thought of changing the name of the event. Though, Ankara remains because any event I am doing yearly, I will still include the Ankara but I want to have a new name that people will know and that is why I came up with another idea that will carry Africa and Culture, the new name is Africulture. We are having the event on 27th of December. I called the last year event Ankara Ball 2015 but this year is tagged Ankara Gig 2016 under Africulture Entertainment.

How do you select the people you reach out to?

I don’t really have any particular person that I select, the one I did last year, I googled orphanage homes and I picked 2, one is located on CMD Road, Magodo and another one on Isaac John, GRA, Ikeja and I visited the 2 after my event to give them my donation.

Why are you still single?

I am not married, which doesn’t mean that I am single but I am not under someone. When I will get married or the man in my life is my private business.

The real reason behind the epic beef between Jay Z and Kanye West revealed

A new documentary has given an insight into the ‘epic rivalry’ between Jay Z and Kanye West. The documentary, Public Enemies: Jay Z v Kanye will look at the rise and falling out of two of the world’s most iconic popstars”. The documentary on Channel 4 features home videos, unseen footage and exclusive interviews with the people who know them best . From the preview, it appears Kanye’s marriage to Kim Kardashian could be the root of the problem with Jay Z.

When Kanye married Kim ,one of the most famous women in the world in 2014,he got huge amounts of pubic exposure which didn’t sit well with Jay Z who guarded his privacy despite being married to Beyonce. GLC, rapper and friend of Kanye revealed that Kanye’s high-profile marriage has changed him.

“The guy that I see now, that’s not the guy that we knew back then, that’s not the same person,” he said.”It does really seem like Jay-Z and Beyonce have distanced themselves from Kanye since he’s been together with Kim,” writer Julianne Escobedo Shepherd agreed.

And after Kim was robbed at gunpoint in Paris, the cracks in their relationship started to show. Then in November 2016, he launched into a 17 minute speech at the S aint Pablo Tour concert in Sacramento, California that went from praising Donald Trump to asking Jay Z not to have him assassinated. Coodie Simmons, Filmmaker and friend of Kanye said:

“I was watching it and then just I don’t even and right in the middle of it I started praying for him because something’s not right and sure enough he went to hospital after that.”

Murray Bruce seeks support for “Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria MBGN” as it clocks 30

Vice President of the Silverbird Group, Guy Murray Bruce has announced the search is on across the nation for the next Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN). This is the 30th edition and will be an epoch making one as it rides on a hair raising sub theme ‘Gender Based Violence -The plight of the Nigerian woman; an addition to the pageant’s main theme ‘The true essence of beauty….. Timeless.’

More..

Outgoing MBGN, Unoaku Anyadike also lent her voice in this regard, making a passionate appeal to the government at all levels to take the fight against gender based violence more seriously. Unoaku in a very moving speech at the press briefing to announce the 30th edition of the pageant in Lagos said ”It is sobering to realise that behind the closed doors of homes everywhere, in the place where women have the right to feel most safe, horrific abuse is a daily reality.”

The scourge is real and Unoaku, like many other campaigners before her, is shocked by the statistics which show that “nearly 50 per cent of all sexual assaults worldwide are against girls 15 years or younger” Bruce who was visibly excited over the announcement for the 30th edition of the pageant further called on corporate organisations and the media to be a part of the show as sponsors and partners.

Screenings have been scheduled to hold on the 8th of August in Enugu, 10th of August in Port Harcourt, Abuja 12th of August. The final screening to select the 35 contestants holds on 14th August at Best Western Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos. Past winners of the MBGN have made huge imprints globally with Agbani Darego now an international super model and fashion entrepreneur becoming the very first Black African Miss World in 2001.

Others are Mary Ngozi Bienoseh, Chinenye Ochuba andAnita Uwagbale named African Continental Queen of beauty, reaching the top ten at Miss World 1987, 2002 and 2004 respectively.

Top 5 Foreign television series Nigerians overhype – Fans of #1 and #5 are the most annoying

Away from the hustle and away from life’s worries. We tend to ease stress by entertaining ourselves with television series. When you are deeply amused by Tonto Dike’s marriage theatrics, you may forget that the person sitting beside you has body odour. Movies and series are one guilty pleasure for those who indulge. They spend late nights or weekends to ensure they catch up with their beloved shows. So just because we love TV and movies too and we enjoy trolling the people that share this our guilty pleasure.

More..

Let’s run through the top 5 TV series that we Nigerians love to overhype.

1. Game of Thrones

We know anything other than profound praise is taken as sacrilege when it comes to Game of Thrones. So before you come for my head, hear me out first. Game of thrones recently dominated the screens and social media. Nigerians are downloading pirated copies and sharing with their friends. Everyone is talking about winter. Winter is coming they say. First of all, the rave was about the Lannisters, then Jon snow and now Arya Stark or is it Tyrion the dwarf. Ah, let us not forget about Daenerys mother of dragons.

After crying about the loss of one character, we always find a way to latch onto another. It is not surprising therefore that for the past two weeks, almost everyone is talking about the 7th season of GOT. Banners, graphics, and even memes are trolling the internet. It got so bad that even haters took to twitter to boast on how they had not watched a single episode. But abeg who that one epp? What is it about GOT that is making people stay so faithful?
