According to reports, a grandma decided to return her newborn grandson to the clinic where he was born, simply because she thought the child was too ugly.
The woman had reportedly accused the staff of the clinic in Santa Marta in Magdalena, Colombia, of swapping her daughter’s child with another person’s baby, she told them to return the baby to the real owner and bring back her own grandchild.
The clinic staff maintained that the baby was theirs, as no other baby boy had been born on that same day, in the clinic.
Speaking on the incident, the health secretary of Santa Marta’s city council, Carlos Pallares, said:
“The grandmother was not very happy. She did not identify the baby as a new member of the family and therefore she decided to come back to the clinic along with the mother of the baby to return him.
The situation should be accepted. Sometimes biology, genetics play a role in these mistakes and we should accept them.“
The baby has however been returned to his family, and is said to be in good health, even though the grandmother is being reviewed by a psychologist, according to the City council spokesman Chadan Rosado.
