Nigerian leaders in shock, mourn ex-Niger governor

Some Nigerian leaders have been left in shock following the death of a former governor of Niger state, Abdulkadir Kure.

Babangida, others mourn late former Niger governor

Kure died in Germany after an undisclosed ailment.

Kure died in Germany after allegedly suffering from an undisclosed ailment.

Ibrahim Babangida, former military head of Nigeria and resident in Niger state, however said as a believer, he knows that all souls must taste dead sooner or later.

The Sun reports that Babangida said: “My amiable friend and companion is gone. We, who are left behind, are on transit. Sooner than later, we will go.”

In his own condolence message Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state, said he was sad over the death of Kure.

According to him, Kure was a true democrat who contributed to the consolidation of the nation’s democracy.

To Wike, Kure died when he was most needed by the country concerning its democratic process.

He prayed that God would strengthen the family members of the former governor

Former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, in a short condolence message from his special adviser, Kunle Oyewunmi, said:“one of the pillars of democracy, whose contributions towards the evolvement and growth of democracy will be remembered.”

He also urged the family to remain strong because the former governor left an indelible mark in the sands of time and did his best as governor, politician and Nigerian patriot.
